How do you make a save-the-date card?

Keep it to the two names, one date and one place — a save-the-date is a signal, not an invitation, and detail makes it read as the wrong thing. Ishqu's Wedding Card does that in an ornate gold layout you can send as a link or save as an image, free and with no signup.

How to make one

  1. 01Put in both namesThey sit either side of an ampersand, in display type.
  2. 02Pick a date and a placeA city is enough. There is no venue field, deliberately.
  3. 03Send it or save itShare the link, or download the card as an image.

When people use it

Mostly it gets used as a joke between two people who are nowhere near engaged, which is what it was built for. It also works for an engagement announcement, or as part of the actual planning long before anything is booked.

Questions people ask

Is this a real wedding invitation?

No. It carries no venue, no time and no RSVP, and it says on the card that it is only an idea with no date fixed. Those omissions are deliberate — they are what stop it being mistaken for an invitation to a real event.

Can I add a venue or a time?

No, and that is on purpose. A card with a venue and a time is an invitation, and people forward invitations. This one is built to be a keepsake between two people.

What is the difference between a save-the-date and an invitation?

A save-the-date tells people roughly when, so they can hold the date. An invitation tells them exactly where and when and asks for a reply. This is the first kind, and only in a novelty form.

Can I download it?

Yes — as an image for a story, or a five-second video. The link works too, and opens on any phone without an app.
